i am memorizing their faces before i leave for los angeles.
i want to know every freckle. i want to count their eyelashes. i want to trace their swirly loops of hair.
i want to shrink all three of them down and carry them with me in my pocket.
i know that i am so very lucky to have this opportunity to have a brief moment with my friends. it is such a gift. my babies will be fine at home. i know that, but my heart is torn between being a mom and taking the time for myself.
now for a question…is the love of trains genetic? gemma went through a very brief thomas stage and then her trains went into a box only to be brought out the other day the utter amazement of the boy. he looked at the trains and back at us, like “these have been in this house ALL THIS TIME?!?”
ok, laundry is done. now to pack.

I love the last pic of Gemma & Clover and the middle pic of Kieran is priceless. Have a great time in LA ! And hope Alec will survive w/o you, i have no doubt the kids will be fine though

Oh its not a boy thing Tiff! My two neices are OBSESSED with trains. The eldest is 4 and has been gonzo over them for over 2 years. You can hear the train and see them go through town from my mothers house on the hill, so whenever there…both girls hear the trains before anyone else and there is a huge stampede with "Woot woot!" being yelled; as thats what the youngest who can't talk yet calls them. She also has a full out wood train set which gets much, much use.
Have an excellent time Rachel! I am so jealous there is truly nothing like So Cal, enjoy it whilst it lasts!!
The top middle picture of G&C is one of my favorites ever, she really looks like a little girl now more than a toddler, so adorable!
You will miss them but when you get back their faces of joy will be so worth it

I love the series with the trains….the expressions on his face are amazingly cute. I hope you have a wonderful time. I know from experience how weird it is to be so far away from your kids but just think of the time you get to spend with your friends and also of the joy you all will feel when you get back.
the train diptych is fantastic, kieran seems to have found his purpose in life in the middle photo! annie has fallen in love with the train set on baby mozart and i foresee trains in our future
hope your trip to the states goes well, just think how much love you'll get from the kiddos when you get home, it'll more than make up for the absence i'm sure.
Enjoy the bliss of child free mayhem during your me time. We all know you LOVE your kids but as mothers, we all know that "me time" makes for a happy Mum and home

I know that feeling you have right now…we recently had mummy/daddy time for a week in New Zealand, we left Georgia and the twins at home with their grandparents. Time out is so important but you miss them terribly. Enjoy your break, everyone needs one.

love that 2nd train shot. ahahaha. so ridiculously cute. LA is "cool" right now. Like 60 degrees. That's cold for us. It feels nice and falllike. Safe flight.
I know exactly what you mean but they WILL be fine. I'm going away just for one night next week and I'm worried about leaving my daughter. Sometimes you just have to go away and its really nice to have the time to yourself so enjoy it!
