in daily life

popped into aldi today to grab a baby pool because it was too hot to even go to the park. filled it up with rain water (which was way to cold for the boy…the delicate little man) and fun was had at home.
while it is a bit small for the family, i think it will serve us well in the next few months.

the tiny girl was quite pleased with the purchase…

gemma had no problem with it being a baby pool…

and the boy had a nice warm bath while his sisters played.

so now we are gearing up for the big F!VE birthday party that is going to transform our house into a rock concert in just a few saturdays from now. i have a lot of planning to do…gotta build some sort of sign for the temporary tattoo parlor and see if i can get the party favors (oh boy do i have a great idea, but it may not be possible) made. gemma decided on this party theme based on P!NK’s Funhouse Tour, so we are all having a little too much fun making it come to life for her. peta rocked out the poster/invite from my skyped ideas… the website will host a gallery after the party. F!VE going on 15, i know, but this is what she likes. she could have asked for a Hi-5 party, or Saddle Club, or Barbie, but she didn’t (yes!) and it is all about her that day. i swear, i would have thrown a fantastic Hi-5 party (no really, i would have). P!NK may seem a little grownup for a 5 year old, but P!NK is tough and talented and confident and unique…those are all things i am proud to have my daughter strive to be.

P!NK seems so much more appropriate than Barbie :) Can't wait to see the pictures – I'm sure it's going to be the party of the year!

That is the coolest party theme! And it doesnt matter if she's 5 or 20. Like you said its her day! You have to take a picture of the tattoo parlor! That is just a crack up! Whoever "works" that spot should cover themselves in them so they look like a real artist *snort*

That birthday flyer? AMAZING. You do all the cool things my wonderful mama did for me as a kid and I can assure you, Gemma will appreciate these things more than you could imagine. I still remember the awesome birthday things my mama did that had all the other kids jealous!

P!NK is a good role model. I’d rather her than all these little popstars out there lately who subtly promote the wrong ideas. P!NK is a feminist, I think it’s important to instill a great sense of feminism in girls (and boys for that matter).

Love the photos, the ones of Clover and Gemma in the pool is so cute. x

Fantastic photos, as usual! About the party— Wow! Good for you. My kids think I went all out if I remembered to buy balloons. Well, I do make a fabulous meal and cake, but I guess setting the mood is not my forte. Good thing I can get ideas from people like you! ; )

Hello, Rachel. Check out this link from US Cookie magazine (RIP – so sad it's gone to the chopping block). At any rate, the "school of rock" party might provide additional inspiration. There are also other party ideas/food stuff you might want to check out. Enjoy!
