hands down, one of the most adorable yet WORST models i have ever worked with.
she is just not at all interested in helping her mother test lights. nope. not at all. the hoops i had to jump through for these 4 shots and 2 of them are out of focus.
i now owe gemma a barbie because clover has claimed the one i used to distract her as her very most favorite thing she has seen. ever.
all i can do is laugh.
the little monkey chicken.
at least now i have photos of her dress that i had made in virginia.

her brother was no better. at least he sat mostly still and did not steal any barbies.

lighting is now all sorted for the shoots next week and i am ready for a nice glass of wine.
i had to do a little more of a directional lighting setup than i am used to. i have my standard way of lighting with strobes, but this is slightly different with two lights and a reflector. it has made me want to play more…maybe get a few different options for diffusing. i don’t love using shoot through umbrellas. i think the catch light is too much of a strobe giveaway. it might be time for a beauty dish.

I so, so wish you could take photos of my children! Adorable.
So cute – Love Clover's dress! You talking about this lighting makes me think that I have sooooo much to learn!
Maendi got me hooked on the beauty dish. Gives off such pretty light. Get it, you won't regret it.
Cannot believe how big the babies look now! Ah. Hit the pause button!
i will need maendi to teach me how to use the darn thing…she is so amazing at lighting.
Keiran looks like a baby Joaquin Phoenix (pre-crazy). Nice shots. I hate doing lighting tests. I usually break out in a major sweat trying to set the crap up (and my studio lighting kit is fairly compact, just two stands/external lights), so testing it is….well, testing. You did a nice job though, kind of makes me want to be more experimental.
These photos are just so cute!
Haha, they are so cute! And poor Rachel!
isnt that the good thing thoo?
no matter how clear the picture is, its about the joy of the people in them.
(:
and i think all of you photos are perfect, no matter where, who, or the lighting.
I love all of Clover's varied expressions. The just make me smile! Kieran is such a cute little man! He's losing a little bit more of the baby look!
why does kieran have a little raindrop of tear rolling down his cheek? but he looks so happy. hahaha. so cute.
cause he is a big grump.
Cute dress!
Sure there were some out of focus shots… but the moment caught is priceless. =)
They are both so beautiful!
What lights did you use for these shots? Strobes on stands, proper studio lights or just any old light? The lighting is so incredibly soft!!
They are beautiful.
Your light and skin tones are really wonderful.
You are doing something very right, Rachel!
man you're good … the lighting is so beautiful and soft … would love your thoughts on your lighting set up … and maybe a pull back
I love Clover with the little clover on her dress! How adorable!
As a mother of a little boy, I'm always excited when you post pictures of Kieran. He is precious.
oh. my. gosh. they are both so beautiful! and the dress is gorgeous! great job!
Kieran and Clover just keep climbing higher and higher on the cuteness scale!!!! What a fabulous set!
O these two are sooo cute!
I can't believe you used strobes for this! Your light is so soft! I never manage to do anything near to this.
Please, plese, tell us something about your setup (maybe pictures?)
Your children have the most beautiful eyes. Ever. Great photos. I absolutely love the lighting
Chickens Dress – I want one.
Adorable grins on both of them – I think on the 4th of Clover, she knows she's a barbie stealer.
I'm on the hunt for Marie Claire in a minute
I would love to see what your lights set-up looks like when you take these pictures. If it's not asking for too much inside info, could you post a picture showing what your "studio" looks like? I want to see the behind-the-scenes picture.
