i think gemma’s school carnival is hexed.  last year, the weather was so bad with cold windy rain, that we just stayed home.  this year all was looking good until about 45 minutes before it began…the skies opened up and tossed in some thunder to make standing in an open field just that much more thrilling.

the rains tapered off to a mild yet constant and annoying level of spitting, so we stuck it out for gemma’s $4.00 turn in the bouncy castle.  kieran was happy to wave at the train oversized rideon lawnmower with homemade cage on wheels/trailer that was driving around the cricket pitch…also $4.00.  gemma spent another $4.00 to climb the ladder to the giant inflatable slide only to get to the top, panic, and climb back alllllll the way down nearly in tears.  they returned our $4.00 for that bit of excitement.

i really wanted her to go on the swings…if only because they were being powered by a leaf blower and the most classic carnie i have ever seen.  i wanted an excuse to take some photos.  gemma was too smart to fall for my “that looks so fun!”  maybe next year she will be brave enough to go on the wildly inappropraite for a school fair ride called “housexy”…that one was brilliantly painted with portraits of lovemaking couples.

i would have taken more photos, but i did not want to risk shorting out the d3.  next year.  maybe.

i was just happy to get a shot of my boys…even if one of them does need a haircut by someone more qualified than his mother.

shot in jpg & edited in photoshop with my basics action set

haha i died laughing at the whole $4.00 part. Isnt $4.00 a bit too much for just a turn on the bounce house? I live in canada so i dont know if austrailian money is diffrent from ours..$4.00 is A LOT for one little thing.

seriously…i should have gotten a shot, but according to another mother who braved the cold the year before, "housexy" is a regular. it should be back next november, still wildly inappropriate ,and i will be ready.

Awww, cuuuuute pictures! I love Kieran's smile and nice to see your hubby, too. Gemma looks like she's having fun. My kids liked bouncy houses, too. That was nice of the people to return your $4 when Gemma was too scared to do the slide.
