so that is how it is going to be

by sesame on December 14, 2009

i am used to this kid. i have known her for 5 years and while she can drive us crazy, there are no real surprises. i mean, now that she can read she knows when we watch Glee and erase it from the DVR without her, but other than that i can predict what is coming.

then there are these guys. like little butterflies emerging slowly from their baby selves, they are new every morning. not dramatically so, but sometimes i feel like introducing myself when i get them up from a nap because they are different beings than a mere 2 hours before when i put them down.

twins

so today i took them all to the park. by myself. far far from our house. because apparently i needed to feel completely incapable of being a mother to 3 children. in public!

the twins are on the move. and they are fast. and they automatically go in OPPOSITE directions from each other. they also do not appreciate being told when it is time to go home. good thing i have some upper body strength because i had to scoop up both twins (simultaneously) many times and redeposit them someplace less dangerous.

so today when the older one decided that she needed to go potty so very IMMEDIATELY (and really that is my fault because as per paragraph number one of this blog post…this was no surprise) i had a problem (or two) on my hands and suddenly i realized that this is how it is going to be. a heavy, squirming, screaming, indignant child under each arm. at least until i can bribe them.

we have toddlers in the house.

*giggles* you're going to be VERY strong in the upper body sense, but also strong in patience! I take my hat off to you, I have my hands full with just one baby, and he's not even mobile yet.

That does sound interesting! I only had one child at a time, that I had to scoop up sometimes! I can't imagine the tag-team effect of twins! Wow, that whole tag-team deal starts early, too! They already know to go different directions! I love reading your stories. Also, each of my kids went through the stage, where they run away, when you want them to come! They would run away gleeful with joy, that I couldn't catch them. Often it was in a store, too, so they were being loud! I never thought about the "chase game" times 2.

You are so very brave for taking them out on your own…I think it is difficult with just two of each age…can't imagine having two toddlers and a 5 year old…good thing they are so very very cute most of the time :)

When our twins were infants, we had casseroles coming out of our ears. Everyone wanted to help! But, it was later when they went their opposite directions, I really could have used a hand (or a Honey Baked Ham!)

You're so funny!! And you'll look back on this in years to come and laugh your head off. I'm back from Oz, been catching up on "you" and it's so awesome to see Keiran on foot!! YaY!! Congrats on your MC stint and despite all the hoohaa about how managing the 3, you'll still pull a rocky & buckwinkle and make is seem effortless ;) You my dear, can do anything!

Hmmm. I'd say that's probably why my friend with triplets gets a baby sitter and takes her kids one at a time. Good luck! ; )

I do admire your patience and skills to take care of all 3 at the same time…. i never had to take care of more than 2 kids at the same time ( lots of friends with kids ) and that was quite a workout.

I am hardly making it with two and only one of them is a toddler, so I think you're doing just great.

okay, so I'm sorry for this question, but I have seen websites, youtube videos and pictures everywhere saying that Twilight wants Gemma in one of the movies. This is probably a huge rumor and a million little preteens getting hyped about nothing, but have you heard anything about this?

i have heard nothing about it…i know that there are thousands of people who think she should play this character, but that has been since the book came out. i have never even read the series, so…
