how

by sesame on January 11, 2010

how? how did alec and i make two so very different little girls? i know, genetics…my dad had blue eyes. but wow. clover has taught me something from the very moment she came around that c-section modesty screen (the one put up so that you do not watch yourself being the star of Aliens). she came around all skinny and strawberry blonde, screaming in the doctor’s arms to tell me…don’t you expect me to be a mini gemma!

she reminds me everyday that i must parent each child differently.

on another note, the blog has been redesigned. my vision has been beautifully translated to this new format by the awesome, peta mazey. i love the way it looks now! i feel like i have just cleaned my room and i can fully relax! everything is all tidy and i can find what i need! thank you everyone for your “likes” over at the babble blogger list…you can “like” again every day, so if you have a moment, go on and like again!

aaww Clovey is so cute :) & well I can tell you that Gemma is the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen :)
I love all you pictures
and your kids :)
& my brother is the complete opposite of me too :)
Im a bronze haired girl with brown eyes and pale skin and my brother is a dark haired boy with dark brown eyes and a little dark skin
my mom always say she can't believe how different we are and that when when she was expecting my brother she always imagine a little boy looking just like me :)
P.S i love your blog :)

maybe it's just me but the site doesn't load properly in firefox (version. 3.5.7) on my mac. are there settings i need to change in my preferences? it seems to work well in safari but i never use safari anymore. i have the same problem with the other new blog also.

we have had one other comment like yours…and it was from a firefox/mac user as well. we are looking into the issue now, but peta and i are on different systems and have tried it out in a lot of combinations and it works for us, so it may be a while before we figure out the issue!

Looks like me and my older sister…we don't look alike either! You and Alec still made two beautifully sweet little girls though!

Love the new look, btw!

voted and in third! Excellent work Peta too, love the new design! I am very different from my sister. She is brunette, I am blonde. I am feisty, she is so laid back she is almost horizontal. My mother had a terrible time with us as children – we would always fight and pull each others pig tails. But now, we are the best of friends…and I bet you any money that when those two gorgeous girlies grow up, although they'll look entirely different, they'll be best friends too.

I've often thought about how the twins (especially) are different. amazing really.
And they are all so beautiful. :)
Everytime I read your blog/look at your pictures I get optimistic and my heart filles up with excitment and hope regarding our next fertility treatment (IUI with a donor sperm, after 1 failed ICSI and two respective failed frozen embryos transfer). There's something about your site that lifts my spirit and makes me want a family of my own even more than I already did and somehow I feel that it WILL happen when I read your blog…. does that sound crazy and stalkerish? :/ If so, then I'm sorry! I don't think my English is good enough to explain myself properly.

It looks like there are two Sesame Ellis entries … one with 30 something votes, the other with 600 something . One may be stealing votes from the other. In any case, I'm liking every day.

Just voted and you are in 1st place !! I just discovered your blog and.. what a joy to read and found out that I'm not the only one to live similar things. I have 2 girls and they are soooo different. One is brown with brown eyes and the other one is blond with deep blue eyes lol with completely different temper.

Genetics are amazing.
My brother and I are like this, in both physicality and in personality. I've got jet black hair naturally, green eyes, I'm small and creative, artsy and very much individual. My brother is tall, dark blonde, a model and very into the party lifestyle. We have the same parents, but not one thing in common. I think it's great though – each of your kids will bring so many new and different elements into your life. As they grow up, you'll learn so much from each of them based on thier interests and the paths they choose. It's pretty cool indeed.

PS – I voted for you. To be totally honest I rarely do the whole voting thing on all the blogs I read, but I am more than happy to vote for you because it has been such a pleasure reading your blog over the past year. You seem like a genuinely A+ person, so kudos.

gorgeous girls!
I have that reminder here too… I guess after having ID twins who actually do look very much alike, both with dark hair and hazel eyes… it was a little bit of a shock to get one so very very very blonde and ice blue eyed… what you mean I don't grow all my kids exactly the same?? LOL
