in my quest

by sesame on February 11, 2010

for the perfect wide angle lens, i picked up peta’s canon 5d and had a play with it this morning.

it is so strange to observe the subtle variations in images made on a camera different from your own.

while it is the photographer who makes the image, the digital camera like film is an integral factor to the look of a shot no matter how slight.

so, these images: canon 5d ~ 24 – 70mm lens ~ ISO 400
top: 1/125s ~ f/3.2
bottom l: 1/200s ~ f/3.2
bottom r: 1/320s ~ f/3.2

I thought you were just a great photographer … I see now that it's just the Nikon. (totally kidding, these rock).

I'm not at the point where I can see subtle differences like that yet, but I love that shot of your boy. That just screams BABY! to me =)

Clover’s picture like the other ladies commented she looks like an Angel. It’s so beautiful and even on my iPhone it had impact. See you just proved that it’s the person behind the camera that makes the picture. I love your pictures even if you won’t leave the dark side :)

gorgeous pics. so what variations have you noticed with the canon? I've never played with a nikon before, always a canon girl so i am just curious as to what I am missing :)

Raised baby eyebrows FTW! Look at those two….

I sometimes pick up my friends Canon and it is so strange to shoot with for me. I'm, like you, a Nikon girl all the way. I got my first Nikon DSLR 7 years ago and have since built a career using Nikon only – I do have a few old Canon 35mm's though. I like how shooting with a Canon feels, but when it comes to editing and uploading, I will always go Nikon. Plus the ISO on Nikon's always blow my mind.
You did well though – retaining your own style with a different camera. Mark of a genius? eh?

I was in the USA for the past week, so it's nice to come back to loads of updates from you. Inspiring me to get some of my recent stuff on the blog and stop being so blog-lazy. Love it!

They have such cute expressions! Clover does look like an angel and Kieran's raised eyebrows show a look of wonder. Hubby would probably be able to know if a picture was taken with a Nikon or a Canon. Shot Nikon before the company bought Canons, but he would buy a Nikon DSLR, if he could get one. He still has the Nikon lenses.
