in the shadow of zen

by sesame on May 6, 2010

today we played just a stone’s throw from a center for buddhism.

(not that we would throw a stone at a buddhist…in fact, quite the opposite.  we picked up some brochures as we have been meaning to go to some classes since we moved here.  they even have a kid’s club!  my kids could use a little zen.  they could use parents with a little zen.)

the twins got dirty, climbed trees and zipped joyfully down twirly slides made for much much bigger kids.

a great afternoon.

i think they have found their new clubhouse.

and maybe i have found mine.

I love Kieran’s dirty little hand and I love that all I can see of Clover is one foot as she’s climbing up the slide. At the school where I work, we are not supposed to let them climb up the slides and it’s a hard thing to get them to stop doing. Sometimes I think it’s stupid, because I climbed up plenty of slides, when I was a kid and I’m still here! They look like they had so much fun exploring!

I would love to see that last pictures again in about 15 years (of course… if they fit – haha!). They look like little teenagers in their “clubhouse,” like best friends having a chat.

Have you read “Buddism for Mothers” and “Buddism for Mothers with Lingering Questions” by Sarah Napthali? They really inspire you to take a moment and find a little zen :) Have to admit it’s something II find quite hard but desperately want to do! Love the picture of the feet coming down the slide!!

They look like they had a ton of fun. I love the one of Kieran on the slide with his tongue out. They are so adorable!

I’ve been gravitating toward buddhism for awhile and been meaning to do a little bit more reading. I’m going to have to get on that.

I feel like I missed something….those photos of Kieran on the slide? WHEN DID HE GROW INTO A SIX YEAR OLD?
Crazy how fast they grow. Some Zen sounds good. :)
