twins

yes, we really do still get asked if they are identical.

now, i understand that people get confused and ask that when they really just want to know if they are similar.

i mean, i get “modern” and “contemporary” confused all the time.

i still say ”fewer” for “less” and “less” for “fewer”.  THAT drives my husband crazy.

but seriously…the ones that actually mean identical?  they make me giggle now.  i can’t hide it anymore.

Identical? They are identical in the cuteness department. :)

Such gorgeous kids, Rachel! I love these little faces. And I have a major weakness for little boys in stripes!

but…they arent. how utterly confusing people can be sometimes. especially the ones who, unfortuantly, arent gifted with common intelligence. *sigh*

LOL. I was at University with a set of boy/girl twins. We were all in the same class for one of our subjects, and I’ll never forget the day our lecturer learned that they were twins, rather than just brother and sister.

Lecturer: Oh, wow, you’re twins?
Girl twin: Yes.
Lecturer: So are you identical?
Boy twin: Yeah, but my penis is much larger than hers.

what crack me up when I get asked if my two are twins … girl and boy who are almost 17 months apart. People often don’t think before they open their mouths (me included!!).
(PS best mistaken words I’ve had recently was on a job application where a guy said he had good ‘repetoire’ with clients. Think he meant rapport. A bad spell check error – but gave me a good laugh in the middle of a boring task)

never thought about the fewer/less thing…..what drive my hubby bonkers is when you use the words couple, and few….he says if you say “give me a couple of minutes” then it should only take 2 minutes – you use the word “few” when you mean more than 2. In my world they both mean the same thing :)

I have to chuckle with you. We have boy/girl twins and were always asked that question.

Your photography is beautiful and inspiring.

I think that Trish’s twins were on to something. I have a friend who just had boy/girl twins and that is precisely what I told her to say when people ask that ridiculous question–”They are totally identical, all except the penis!” She does have the added challenge of having twins who actually look much more similar than your cuties.

Your twins will have such beautiful documentation of their lives–what a gift you are giving them.

It always killed me, when my aunt would tell me that she had her infant twins out in public, dressed in pink and ruffles, and people would still ask if they were boys. They are identical twins and I always had a hard time telling them apart. Now that they are adults, they wear their hair differently and especially not that they are married, it’s easy to know who is who.

With boys/girls, though, they are definitely two separate children! LOL! They certainly look like siblings, but not really alike. Their coloring is so different!

My daughters are 2-1/2 years apart in age, and one is slightly bigger, than the other, but I guess they do look a like, when their hair is the same length and they both have it in a ponytail, because I’ve even been asked if mine were twins. It has happened more as they got older and were more the same size, though.

That’s great, people are really slow sometimes. As always your kiddos are adorable, such special little people. Thank you for showing us the world through your eyes!

I get asked all the time how close mine are in age. Sometimes I like to say 18 min. (which they are) and see how long it takes to hear “did you say min. or months?” They look like they are brothers but that’s where it ends, blonde/brunette, gray eyes, green eyes, one’s bigger than the other by about an inch.

A friend of mine has boy/girl twins and they are very clearly boy and girl now and people still ask her if they are identical.

People used to ask that about my cousins, James and Jewel, all the time! Eventually my aunt just started pointing out rather bluntly what body parts James had that Jewel didn’t. Heehee!

Fewer for less and less for fewer – that drives jeff crazy as well, and, uh-oh, it is starting to finally drive me crazy as well! but stupid comments about our babies – I shall never fathom those!!

I’ve never seen two babies look so much like each separate parent. It floors me how much she looks like you and how much he looks like your Mr.

Some people are just incredibly stupid. I sincerely hope they stop asking such a dumb question by the time they kids are in school. Oh, people…..

My sisters are fraternal twins. Very fraternal. It is really funny when people ask if they are identical. Um, yeah, no.

More accurately Monozygotic or Dizygotic in the case of these two.
Beatrix and I have been watching a bunch of reproductive videos over the summer. I recommend:
In the Womb: Multiples -and In the Womb: Animals both from National Geographic.

But that elephant’s birth canal looks so unwelcoming to any potential spermatozoic swimmers attempting to storm the castle. I suppose that only the best are welcome since the gestation is 23 months.
