March 10 on 10 :: Looking at a normal day through a Lensbaby

by sesame on March 10, 2012

I am really enjoying the challenge of these 10 on 10 shoots (even if I did almost concede defeat this time around with two mirror shots by the 8th hour). I have decided to give myself a different guiding theme each month to make each even more of a thought provoking experience to shoot. Since I take photos of my daily life quite often, I aim to make these once a month posts a bit special. March is all taken with the Lensbaby. I slowed my day down by walking for all of my errands and making sure even the focusing of each image was manual. Since all the kids were at school, I could afford to take my time. One of the things I love most about where we live is the walkability of our neighborhood.

10 lines of photos :: 1 to represent each of the 10 hours I chose this month

(above) in the first five hours:
8am :: outside the corner shops on the walk to school
9am :: a lost train pass and waiting dogs on the walk to the post office
10am :: mailing some copies of Beyond Snapshots to a select few
11am :: coffee in the sun with some inspirational reading
12pm :: emergency public restroom pee break (because of the coffee) before walking home

(below) in the second five hours:
1pm :: noticing the small beauty in the neighborhood
2pm :: back to work and a forgotten lunch
3pm :: powdering my nose at my desk… ready for school pickup
4pm :: homework time back in my office
5pm :: the preschool pickup run
6pm :: bath time for the twins

From here, please continue the 10 on 10 journey with Molly Flanagan | Lifestyle Photographer | Greenville, SC for more photo-blogging loveliness.

All photos taken with the Nikon D3 and Lensbaby Composer/Sweet 35 optic or Lensbaby Composer Pro/Edge 80 optic.

I wish I lived in a walkable town, and took time to read in the sun. I’m envious over here :)

Love this post and all the details. But, Clover gets me hands-down with that look and her gorgeous eyes staring into the camera. Fun day!

I love your idea of using the 10 on 10 to capture things just for you – artistic things. I take a lot of everyday photos of my children yet I’ve loved capturing their days with this project. I think I’ll use your idea for the second year of this project. At any rate, these are gorgeous, light, airy. So glad I visited.

the hands in the faucet–swoon! And you nailed the shot in the compact. I always want to catch that shot because I feel like that is 90% of the view I have of myself, though a mirror looking only at my eyes. Love this project!
