There is just something about a balloon release

by sesame on December 28, 2012

that makes my heart heal.

At the close of the Celebration for the Lovely Life of Rachel West, we all released balloons to the sky. Earlier everyone added a short note to Rachel and attached them to the strings. It really was a serene way to say goodbye. Watching the balloons race off in the wind made me feel like they knew exactly where to go. They were free and beautiful…just like her spirit.

Some balloons went up in groups and pairs, like old friends.

I even found beautiful rainbows sneaking into some frames.

As the balloons danced off with their private messages, there was silence and I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes.
