I AM SESAME!

Many years ago, I was a quirky little girl trying to come up with a name for her first cat.
Sesame? Yes, Sesame is perfect.
More than a decade ago, I was a quirky little grown up trying to come up with a name for her first online account.
First pet and mother’s maiden name? Sesame and Ellis? Yes, Sesame Ellis is perfect.
Sesame Ellis became the outlet to be all the things that previously only those closest to me saw.
Sesame was funny and not shy.
Sesame tried new things.
Sesame rarely wore a drop of makeup and never worried about her hair.
Sesame had lots of fun.
Sesame did not care about being accepted for what other people thought.
The internet lets you be that side of yourself because you can’t hear anyone laughing at you online.
Over the years, writing and sharing photos online have built up my confidence.
I realized that I am Sesame.
I resolve to not let fear of what other people think hold me back.
I resolve to stop looking for those who are laughing at me.
I resolve to be that quirky person I am… All the time.
I resolve to keep running.
I resolve to keep taking photos of my life.
I resolve to stop trying to fit into old clothes that just make me feel bad.
I resolve to keep sharing so that someone else out there might relate.
I resolve to make even more new friends and strengthen the bonds with old ones.
I resolve to not let a moment of 2013 go to waste.

Join me in Project Life 365. If you have kids who want to participate, join them up too. Gemma is excited to play along and I am looking forward to doing this with her at my side! Don’t forget to Like the littleSIDEKLICK page on Facebook as we will be helping you help your kids learn how to take photos with you all year long! Stay up to date with all things kids and photography related there!
I have three of the Project Life 365 field guides to give away. Just leave me a note here in the comments that tells me what your “Sesame Ellis” is (first pet + mother’s maiden name) and who you resolve to be in 2013.
And when we meet, feel free to call me Sesame.

I resolve to complete ProjectLife365 with my 11 year old daughter. We are off to a good start! Posting every day on Facebook.
That is a wonderful resolution. I am loving the ability to do this with my daughter as well.
Cricket Tomlinson or Pops Tomlinson.
My resolutions are to spend more time with my family doing special things, lose weight, get more active, and make more photographs. I’d really just like to be happier with me.
*sigh* Dixie Jacobsen is no very catchy, is it?
Thank you so much for sharing this and for always being so open and honest. When I first started following you on Flickr (what seems like a bajillion years ago now) I learned so much from your style and your attitude. I loved how you saw your life personally and professionally and how you shared it. When you had the twins and documented your experience, I drew strength from your strength and your images since I was going through the same thing. A professional highlight for me was meeting you this summer at the adorama event and I saw that you are just as real in person as you come across on your blog. There are so few people like that. I’m really excited to participate this year in a 365 project and I really hope that I can actually do it! With life being so crazy and busy all the time. But, like you, I resolve not to waste even one moment of 2013. Time goes by too quickly and I want to remember it as much as I can. happy new year! x
Thank you SO much for your beautiful words. Meeting you in NYC was a treasure!
PS–Mac Legra. haaha…poor mac. he was the sweetest german shepard ever and after he left our family and ran away my parents were so heartbroken we never had a pet again.
MG Howe I resolve to be fitter in 2013 than ever before – plus taking time out for the family. 2012 saw me spent and stressed xx 2013 is more about balance xxx
Tinkerbell Morrow – private eye extraordinaire! I, too, plan to keep running!
