We are a one car family by choice. Dropping a vehicle was one of the things we were really excited about when we moved from Los Angeles to Melbourne. Saving money on fuel and reducing our impact on the environment were top motivations. As the children have grown, we are finding that we use the car more than we thought. We have taken it not only for the normal trips around town, but on lovely family vacations interstate. It is so easy to be able to pile the family into the car, back out of our garage and hours later, pull into our holiday destination! Exploring this beautiful country and really seeing the landscape is one of the things I love most to do as an ex-pat.
I will be honest, in the winter months with rainy cold mornings, we use the car to drive the few blocks to and from school. Not very glamorous, but truth. And really the destination is not the paramount concern… Whether it is 100 kilometers or just 1, it is getting there safely that matters. Our car, like every other car out there carries family treasures (us!) around from place to place. So with safety and fuel efficiency in mind, we sought a car that would rank highest in both those categories.
Keeping our one car in top shape is important. We want to be sure that the choices we make with regular maintenance keep fuel efficiency and safety at their highest levels. One major element to both of those factors is the tyres! After nearly five years, it was finally time to get all new tyres for our car. Goodyear has given us a set of their brand new Assurance TripleMax tyres made especially for midsize family cars like ours. I must admit that I was not sure that tyres would make a difference that I could physically feel while driving, but pulling out of the service center the smoother ride was instantly obvious. The HYDROGRIP Technology® provides much shorter braking distances especially in rainy weather which is exactly what we need in Melbourne.
Goodyear even sent a little film crew to capture us on our errand adventure. Take a look at a little bit of what our everyday looks like.
