I have been out-geeked…

Today we went to Box Wars. Basically it is a bunch of strangers dressed in cardboard costumes (that vary in complexity from half assed attempts to those that must have required blueprints and circular saws) beating the crap out of each other in a really good natured battle.

Oddly enough, I haven’t seen so many 35mm film cameras in one place since, well…ever. Some sort of hipster / nerd vortex in Caulfield Park.

Chilli came and barked in horror from the first jolly blow until I had to remove her from the audience. She does not sit well with any sort of violence…even play. Looking around at all the other dog in attendance who appeared completely oblivious to the show in front of them, I had to wonder just what had happened in her past to make her such a sensitive protector. Clover watched, but really just wanted to spin around and around and then roll down the hills in the playground.

Tomorrow is National Napping Day. I declare it so although Gemma will not allow it. Vacation does not mean slowing down to her. I just want to catch up on my reading before I have to get back into the daily grind. I wonder what age it is when we value relaxation instead of fighting it.

What are your holidays looking like?

Looks like a wonderful twist to Boxing Day! In Canada it’s the big shopping day (like our version of Black Friday but without the aggression), but there is no Boxing Day in Portugal, however, it’s just another working day here. Which seems kind of cruel to me. But they have Carnival, so I guess that makes up for it.

That age when we value relaxation instead of fighting it, is around high school/college i’d say. At least, it was for me :) I hated naps when i was little, but lately i’ve been learning to love them!
    Gorgeous photos as usual ;)
